Paintbox is a convenient tool to help makeup lovers' life better, users can scan their own cosmetics to record their cosmetics and the notification system will remind users to avoid products expire. A realistic and practical product to solve the target audiences' problems.

MAKEUP BEHAVIOR
Finding 1
The average time interviewees spend doing their makeup is 15 minutes, for normal occasions, and over 30 minutes for special occasions.
Finding 2
30% of interviewees will learn how to do their makeup from Youtube videos, but most of them believe their own makeup skills are enough for their daily makeup.
PURCHASING BEHAVIOR
Finding 1
People stop buying useless cosmetics and stop trying new products when they find out the right cosmetics for their skin and style. Also, over half of them prefer to buy cosmetics onsite.
Finding 2 ( Pain point )
Most of the interviewees buy large amounts of cosmetics during sales events. They often forget what kind of products they already own, don’t fully use the product & place it somewhere until it expires.

Testers care about the fresh date after opened item, also they want to know the expiration date with the unopened product. So I separated add item as two processes to make the expiration date more clear for users.
NOTIFICATION AND RENEW
Testers want to renew products through this app, also renew feature can bring more business chances.
Project takeaway
We follow the principle of LEAN UX to explore our study, compared to the real industry work, this project I stood on a high-level role of this project, kind of like the CEO of Paintbox. I got lots of different insights from my target audience, but I have to keep in mind to build an MVP which is to make the functions of this product as easy as possible meanwhile make the solution stick with the core problems of the target audience. So when my target audients told me they really want to try this product in real life gave me an unprecedented achievement that is hard to get from industry work.
Overall I really appreciated the studying program to do such rewarding work with the instructor and students and all the interviewees.
